Energy Policy Innovation in Action
A YPIP facilitated day on retrofit policy
Energy Policy Innovation in action!
Retrofitting the UK social housing stock is critical for fuel-poverty alleviation and Net Zero. But building fabric funding is patchy and the energy market is valuing flex and renewables more highly.
We recently participated in a fantastic policy innovation workshop facilitated by the wonderful team at Closeandremote (link below) and Jake Barnes as part of the Yorkshire & Humber Climate Commission and YPIP policy project with Gary Dymski
What did we take away and who to thank for the insights that stuck with me on the journey home?
- Ceri Batchelder on the critical need to ensure residents are engaged and ideally co-design schemes.
- Philip Brown on how to imagine complex lives and make energy interventions fit rather than vice versa
- Sophie Brook on constantly asking "why is this like this" and bringing criticality and imagination into energy policy.
-David Glew for the best breakdown of planning barriers to retrofit ever!
- Lucy Allis on building retrofit strategy across tricky geographies
- Jessica Marshall on the desperate need to recognise public health outcomes of retrofit and
- Martyn Broadest for daring to dream with me about a revolutionary role for storage and solar in social housing.
Great day facilitated by a great team from https://lnkd.in/eE8NeHiN
